Once again I joined “Mud Trail” group for the weekend biking adventure. (I have suggested to change the name from “Mud Trail” to “Mud Trailers”, let’s see till next Saturday if it happens or not?) Only five of the Mud Trailers and me (total six)  participated on that day. The gathering point was at NTC Jwalakhel @ 6:15 AM. The trail was from Jwalakhel to Tika Bhairav to Nallu to Lele to Taukhel (Godavari Village Resort) and back home. The trail from Nallu to Lele and to Taukhel was new one for me. From Nallu (mathlo Nallu) to Lele the track was through a dense pine forest, with a single track at times not fit for even mountain bikes to tread. I would say it was a bakhra hidne track but we saw a few people using the track as well. We could not ride our bikes in nearly 75% of the track and had to drag our bikes. Out of that 75% maybe in 25% of the track we had to carry our bikes on our back. (first time for me to carry my bike, but no complains, as the bike had always carried me previously and I thought I reciprocated back). It was more of exploring a track inside a dense forest rather than off road biking trail. From Lele we took the Badikhel Lele road via Kotku Bhanjyang and reached Taukhel (Godavari Village Resort).

Let’s get into the  nitty gritty details: It was approximately ride of 54 kms; by the time I reached home it was 3 in the afternoon. We had a cup of tea at the gathering point, breakfast at a shop in Tika Bhairabh comprising of sel, aloo ko jhol trakari & dry chana tarkari. By the time we reached Nallu, hunger was attacking like a fierce tiger and we were surprised to note that there were no tea shops to cater us. Due to this, the Mud Trailers were getting strange Mirage effect (sans desert)  seeing the small rocks on the road as shanndar Momos. But then after digging deep in their bags, two packets of wai wai and one packet of quick noodles and a packet of biscuit and a bar of chocolate and three packets of “electrobion” (jeevan jal)  were produced. Consuming the dry ration, the conversation veered towards imagination of “chicken chilli (wai wai), hyakula fry (quick noodles), biryani (biscuit) and dessert as balck forest (chocolate)” of what we were eating. We had our lunch at Suman Khaja Ghar next to Godavari Vallage Resort but food was far better than what Godavari Village Resort serves. It comprised of khukura ko masu, aalo trakari, chhoila ra chiura another spell of all dry food item. ( jhol haleko kehi pani thiyena) Out of those items chiura  was the only one with unlimited supply.

How can I forget the pleasure of partaking natural, organic kafal, that also after the strenuous uphill ride to Kotku Bhanjyang, straight from the branches of Kafal tree.

Also the phone app had some problem and the route marking from Jwalakhel could not be recorded and is recorded from Lele only. Since it recorded less than half of our route, I did not put the other parameter recorded by the app. Please find the link appended below.

I am working/finding out the difference on biking experience when going in a group and going as “Lone Ranger” (I prefer to say it as “Lone Ranger” than ‘solo’, probably influenced by Louis L’Amour).
